ABOUT LOOPIAN ZU & ZU FEST:
Formed at gates of the 21st Century, Loopian Zu have been the stalwarts of psychedelic improvisation and sonic free-form exploration throughout Billings, MT and the surrounding communities on and off and back on again for nearly 3 decades. The project initially materialized around it’s founders and brothers Pat and Brian Epley (percussionist and guitarist), along with Ryan Taylor (bassist), Levi Junkert (Synth/ Keyboardist), and Neil Olsen (saxophonist/ vocalist). Later bringing further explorers So Eto (bass/guitarist), Andy Sulser (percussionist), and Parker Brown (musicianist) into the fold. This band of long-time brothers brings their mutual love for enigmatic, evocative, and often mesmerizing music to the stage. And through their energetic original performances it is wholly apparent that they inhale & exhale through the inspirational likes of King Crimson, Parliament/ Funkadelic, Ozric Tentacles, Galactic, PinkFloyd, & Jimi Hendrix. After a substantial hiatus, a chance reunion of original members in the Pandemic world of 2020 brought Loopian Zu full circle. Now 27 years into this cosmic coincidence and connection, the Zu Crew are together reconnecting the decades across their expressions of space & time. . . for the 1st time. Welcome Zu Fest 2026!
