Tantric… Smile Empty SoulSMILE EMPTY SOUL is a hard rock band that originated in Los Angeles, CA in the late 1990’s and has stayed true to their brand of “no bullshit”, “real as it gets” hard rock to this day. The band signed a major label record deal in 2003 to release their self-titled debut album in May of that year. They realized huge success at alternative radio, rock radio, and the music video channels that have since fallen by the wayside or turned into reality show networks.After 3 very successful singles/videos and a gold record from the debut release, the band ran into trouble with their record company (which was in the midst of turmoil at the top levels) and found themselves working extra hard in the trenches, and signed to indie labels or no label at all from them on.This would become SMILE EMPTY SOUL’s destiny, as they have gone on to release many more albums and EP’s on various labels, as well as their own company “smile empty music inc”. The band just released their 9th full length record “Black Pilled” on October 12th of 2021 completely on their own.“Smile” has become known for its constant touring and never wavering honest sound/lyrics. Ned LeDoux’s music has that kind of power. As a songwriter, he has a knack for bringing people, places and emotions vibrantly to life with his insightful lyrics, and warm, strong voice that makes him sound like a beloved friend you always want to hang out with. Those gifts are fully on display on LeDoux’s new album Buckskin.“I’m writing my own story and if people take a liking to it, that’s wonderful,” says LeDoux. “As long as I’m writing from the heart, and writing about what I know, I can definitely listen back to it and be proud.”On his third full-length album, LeDoux again delivers songs that transcend mere entertainment to celebrate a life that many aspire to, but few actually live. All three projects, as well as his new effort, Buckskin, were produced by singer/songwriter/guitarist Mac McAnally, who has won the CMA Musician of the Year Award an unprecedented 10 times. “He’s my songwriting mentor and his guidance in the studio is wonderful,” LeDoux says. “He’s a great guy to be around. Nobody phrases things like he does. I don’t know if there’s something in that Muscle Shoals water or what, but he’s a very inspiring character. He gave me great songwriting advice. The band members include Nate Yeager and Tony Morales on guitars, Zach Ostwalt on bass, J.R. Anderson on drums/percussion, and Samm Bauer on keys/synths and samples.The idea of In Rapture formed in 2013 when Nate Yeager decided to start a new project based off of a few demos that he had created. Yeager invited fellow friends in the music scene to start a live band from his first demos. Recruiting Zach Ostwalt, Samm Bauer, and Tony Morales, the group formed In Rapture and released their first ten song album “Of Memories and Nightmares” in 2014. Later that year, J.R. Anderson joins the band completing the six piece line up. The group continued playing local shows and writing new material over the next few months eventually leading to the conception of a second album “Oceans to Arsenic”. After recording the demos at home, the quintuplet was offered the opportunity to record at Robert Lang Studios in Seattle. The latter, which Graves – aka Alejandro Rose-Garcia – wrote and illustrated, tells the tale of a once-courageous, now retired mouse who must journey to the moon to save his sweetheart.
