The Waiting isn’t your average tribute act —- they’re a six-piece roadhouse rock & roll thrill ride dedicated to keeping the fire of Tom Petty burning bright. Their mission is simple: take the music you love, pour in a shot of grit, a double-shot of heart, and serve it up with zero gimmicks.
No wigs. No costumes. No karaoke vibes. Just top-tier musicians channeling the raw soul and swagger of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, his solo gems, and even his stint as Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr. in the Traveling Wilburys. From the first roaring guitar chord to the last ringing note, The Waiting ignites the music rather than imitates it.
Since forming in 2013, they’ve torn through the American West, converting first-time listeners into diehard superfans and giving lifelong Petty lovers a reason to dance like it’s 1979. Their shows are equal parts jukebox of anthems —”Refugee”, “Free Fallin”, “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” – and treasure chest of deep cuts for the true believers.
In 2024, The Waiting’s hard work paid off with a career highlight: their very own featured episode on Montana PBS’s 11th & Grant, showcasing their energy, chemistry, and passion for Petty’s legacy to a pacific northwest audience.
